MT7 uses the ranch as an outdoor classroom for all ages, hosting a variety of field days for private landowners, state and federal conservation agencies, Breckenridge ISD, local civic groups and graduate students conducting research for their masters theses.
The ranch has an active relationship with Breckenridge ISD, whereby students visit on a monthly basis during the school year to learn and incorporate our daily activities with their science curriculum. MT7 hosts an annual spring field day for the Breckenridge fifth grade class, where many catch their first fish! MT7 also employs local high school students during the summer for general ranch work.
In 2009, we initiated an internship program for college students interested in natural resources, ranch management and agribusiness careers. To date, MT7 has employed over 100 interns from universities across the United States. A number of our interns return after earning their college degrees to work full time for the ranch.
